Bug reports
In short: tap the speech bubble at the end of the health bar (or Report a bug on the Hero tab), pick what it is about, say what happened, and send. You get a reference such as GD-12, and Your reports shows what we did about it. The game attaches what we need to find the problem, so you never have to describe your screen.
How it works
Sending a report
The report sheet asks what the report is about:
| Choice | For |
|---|---|
| Bug | Something broke or behaved wrongly. Also asks how bad it is and what you expected instead. |
| Too hard / easy | A fight that felt unfair, a day that felt too slow, anything about balance. |
| Words | A line that was wrong, odd, or that you have read too many times. |
| Idea | Something you would add or change. |
| Loved it | What you enjoyed, so we keep it. |
For a bug, pick how bad it is: I cannot play, Gets in the way or Small.
When an action fails, the message that pops up has a Report this link that opens the sheet with the error already written in.
What is attached
- Where you are, your level, health, gold, turns left and the day of the season.
- Your last dozen actions as the server recorded them (fights, moves, choices).
- Unless you untick Attach my last few actions and errors: your last requests to the server (with the ids the server logs them under) and any errors the game hit.
- Your screen size, whether the game is installed, and your browser.
- The version of the game you are running.
It never includes anything you typed elsewhere, and it goes only to the game's own database. When the team copies a report to its issue tracker, your account and hero ids stay behind: the report is known there by its reference alone.
Following a report
Your reports in the same sheet lists everything you have sent with its reference and where it stands:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Received | It arrived; nobody has read it yet. |
| Seen | Read and sorted. |
| Looking into it | Someone is working on it. |
| Fixed | Fixed in a newer version. |
| Staying as is | We decided to keep things as they are. |
| Already known | The same thing was reported before. |
A short reply from the team can appear under the report. We keep a report while it is open and for 12 months after we close it, and an error the game reported by itself for 12 months after anyone last hit it. A copy on the team's issue tracker goes the same way: 12 months after it is closed there. Download my data in Settings gives you a copy of your reports, with our notes on them.
When the game itself breaks
If a screen crashes, you see Something broke with a Reload button instead of a blank page. Your hero is safe: everything lives on the server. The game reports such errors on its own; you do not need to. With Share play statistics off, such a report keeps only the error itself, not where you were in the game or what device you use (see Analytics and feedback).
Tips
- One problem per report. Two short reports are easier to fix than one long one.
- Report straight away: the actions attached are the last few, so a report sent an hour later points at the wrong moment.
- Quote the reference (GD-12) if you mention it in a chat.
